INVESTORS MAKE A BEELINE FOR BSE

A
large no of both domestic and foreign institutional investors have queued up to get a share in the demutilisation process of the oldest stock exchange in Asia. Duestche Borse and the Singapore stock exchange have picked up a minority stake in the exchange. The race against time is due to the fact that the market regulator has fixed mid may as the deadline for bringing the broker's stake to 40% or even lower. The latest consolidation wave going on across the world has brought the indian exchanges into merger mania. the BSE stake sale is after NSE the premier Indian exchange sold part of its stake to NYSE Group and some investment banks.
The latest trend is good for both the industry and their clients. Going forward after the entire consolidation is over one could involve in arbitrage activities across markets in different geographies.
