Some time ago when stock traders and investors used to read the foreign portfolio flows into India and interpreted it as a sign of progress we had made in stock market regulation and the emergence of home grown companies. It also came as no surprice that for the financial yr 2006 portfolio flows exceeded FDI inflows. money came in from every direction and from all kinds of investors. Almost all of them made handsome returns in the last three years.....
The SEBI chairman has come out with the exact amount of investment under their management and other interesting information.
- foreign portfolio inflow has grown by 129% over the last three years to $119billion - the exact investment made is only $52billion.
- A total of 992FIIs from 32 countries have invested in indian markets
- the domestic market cap of $850 is fifth largest in Asia and 17th largest in the world
